ABOUT
NazUth is the youth ministry of Henderson Church of the Nazarene (for middle school and high school students). Our goal is to help young people grow into lifelong, loyal, fearless disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our primary meeting is on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm. At these gatherings, we share a meal, have a time of worship, dig into God's word, and usually enjoy some sort of game or fun activity.
We also have discipleship groups on Sunday morning at 9:30am and morning worship at 10:30am. And, we have an all-church Bible study on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm.

A LETTER TO PARENTS
Dear Parent,
We are excited to have your child join our youth ministry at HCN! We have been praying for you and your child as he/she enters this new chapter in their life. Through much prayer and guided by the Holy Spirit, our heartfelt goal is to help your son or daughter grow into a lifelong, loyal, fearless disciple of Jesus Christ.
How can this be accomplished? At HCN, there are four principles that guide us in helping our teens grow in Christ:
How can you, as parents, help your son or daughter grow into a lifelong, loyal, fearless disciple of Jesus Christ?
How can we help you? Parenting teens has always been challenging, but it can be pretty tough these days… especially if you’re aim is to see your child grow into a strong Christian. We want to help you any way we can. First, remember that we are praying for you continually... God, our Father is mighty! You can also expect to occasionally receive (via email or social media) helpful articles and resources for Christian parents. We will also offer an annual small group study for parents of teenagers. And finally, of course, as your pastor, my door is always open to you if you need prayer or spiritual guidance.
I’m so excited to see our young teens discover the adventure of following Jesus! There’s a lot of wonderful memories waiting to be made… looking forward to a great year!
In Christ,
Pastor Chad Townsley
We are excited to have your child join our youth ministry at HCN! We have been praying for you and your child as he/she enters this new chapter in their life. Through much prayer and guided by the Holy Spirit, our heartfelt goal is to help your son or daughter grow into a lifelong, loyal, fearless disciple of Jesus Christ.
How can this be accomplished? At HCN, there are four principles that guide us in helping our teens grow in Christ:
- Prayer – To some, this may sound cliché, but we believe there is much power in prayer. If prayer was essential to Jesus’ life and ministry, it is absolutely essential to ours. As 2 Corinthians 10:1 says: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” Know that you and your son or daughter are being prayed for fervently and continually.
- Relationships – Many of our youth activities are designed to foster peer relationships within the church. We want our teens’ primary sphere of influence to be here, in the church. Playing together, eating together, praying together, learning together, and serving together have always been essential elements of Christian discipleship. Discipleship always happens within the context of genuine relationships where a group of people learn to be open and honest with one another and to love one another.
- Solid Biblical teaching – We seek to offer solid, Biblical teaching that will help our teens know the heart of God and the story of God, awaken them to His love and the hope of the Gospel, and discover their part in His story.
- Practical discipleship – We are taught to be more than hearers of the Word, we are to be “doers” of the Word. We want our teens to discover the joy and satisfaction that comes from responding to God in obedience and being the hands and feet of Jesus to others. Mission trips, random acts of kindness and love to people inside our church and those outside, and “washing the feet” of those who are far from God – these will be regular activities of HCN Youth.
How can you, as parents, help your son or daughter grow into a lifelong, loyal, fearless disciple of Jesus Christ?
- Get your kids here whenever the youth gather – (Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, youth events, etc.). If you want to see your teen really grow and become mighty men and women of God, it’s important in these formative years that their primary sphere of influence is in the church. I know this is challenging in these days where there’s so many school activities competing for their time and attention, but if you’ll draw the line, and demonstrate the priority of Christ and our walk with Him, it will make a lasting impression on your kids that they’ll remember long after they’re grown.
- Pray for them – earnestly and fervently pray for your teen and all of our teens. There is so much more power in prayer than most of us realize. Go to our Father in prayer again and again. Pray for His love to captivate our kids, and His saving and sanctifying grace to transform their hearts and lives forever.
- Volunteer with the youth ministry when needed. There will be events and activities where we will need some extra help or supervision for our kids. Your help will be greatly appreciated, and it speaks volumes to the importance of this ministry in the lives of your kids.
